125 Church Street opens

A brand new café and bar has opened on Stoke Newington’s Church Street. The site – formerly White Rabbit and before that celeb hangout The Baby Bathhouse (notably a favourite spot of Amy Winehouse back in the day) – was bought this summer by Marc Dalla-Riva and Matthew Rix, the duo behind The Blacksmith & Toffeemaker pub in Clerkenwell.

The pair have transformed the premises into a café, bar and events space, overseeing an extensive refurb of the interior and garden.

With gourmet doughnuts by Crosstown Doughnuts and Caravan coffee, not to mention craft beers, wines and US-inspired sandwiches, 125 Church Street certainly sounds like a haven for Hackney hipsters and Stoke Newington’s throng of yummy mummies. Let’s hope it can help turn around a site which, despite its prime location on Church Street, hasn’t really thrived for many years.
