A new Portuguese taberna called Claro is due to open on Bateman Street in spring. The focus will be on small seafood plates and wines by the glass.
The 26-cover venue is a joint venture between Leandro Carreira and Alex Hunter, co-founder of Bonnie Gull, and The Sea The Sea in Chelsea, where Carreira is executive chef.
The restaurant will be inspired by Portuguese flavours and traditions and Claro will focus on fermentation, clean flavours, and pared back presentation. Dishes such as mackerel with seaweed butter have been touted.
