For those of you who haven’t yet been to the top of the City’s newest skyscraper, the ‘Walkie Talkie’, there’s now another compelling reason (besides those showstopping views). Fenchurch – the restaurant 37 floors up at Sky Garden – has launched a new menu for just in time for the warmer weather.
Dishes have been devised by head chef Zac Whittle – formerly of the Conran and Galvin restaurant empires.
On the menu: Rabbit ‘bolognese’ with wild garlic, shavings of Berkswell and sourdough; smoked eel with avocado, duck ham and horseradish; new-season lamb with peas, morels and mint; cod with broad beans, goat’s curd, heritage tomato, speck and lemon verbena; asparagus, crispy egg and hollandaise; and gnocchi, cauliflower, apple and pomegranate.
Desserts include: strawberry doughnuts with buttermilk, lime ice-cream and honeycomb; and caramelised chocolate puff pastry with praline, banana and passion fruit. There are also two set menus – two courses for £29, three courses for £35 – available Sunday & Monday lunchtime (11.45 am-3.30 pm).
Skygarden is brought to us by caterers-extraordinaire “rhubarb”.
