An upmarket Armenian restaurant is set to launch in Mayfair later this month. Lusin, meaning ‘moon’, opens its doors in Hay Hill on 31 October and will accommodate up to 100 diners on two floors.
The restaurant originated in Riyadh in 2011, and now has three further branches in Saudi Arabia; this will be its first in Europe. The menu has been developed by Beirut-based Armenian cookery writer Anahid Doniguian for delivery by chef Marcel Ravin from Martinique in the French Caribbean, who runs the Michelin two-star Blue Bay in Monaco.
The new Mayfair off-shoot will apparently have walls made from Armenian tuff stone, and (presumably unlike the Middle Eastern original) will serve wines from Armenia, whose history stretches back as far as 4,000 years. There’s no word yet on the prices, but it’s a fair bet they’ll be hefty.
