When it comes to top wine producing countries England doesn’t yet rival France or even Germany. But vineyards in old Blighty are now producing enough vintages to warrant an entire week in their honour.
English Wine Week takes place from Saturday 23 – Sunday 31 May and in celebration Borough Market’s Roast will host two wine dinners on Tuesday 26 May and Wednesday 27 May.
The £85 four-course meal will include paired wines from England’s leading wine producer, Chapel Down. On the menu: Grimsby smoked haddock croquettes with spicy red pepper salsa and pea shoots; and roasted rack and slow-cooked shoulder of Launceston lamb with potatoes and braised spring cabbage.
