Chefs Mark Jankel and Jun Tanaka have chosen a kiosk in the City’s new Broadgate Circle development for their first permanent site – the long-time home of their Silver Airstream. Always a top tip for “good-quality take-away” among worker bees, Street Kitchen will open on 15 June.
Like the van, the permanent restaurant will serve up ‘slow food, fast’ – making locally sourced ingredients accessible on-the-go. The menu of ‘by the inch’ gourmet sandwiches, selection of bespoke breads and seasonal fillings including chargrilled broccoli, slow-roast-pork, rare roast beef and lobster rolls, will be on offer throughout the day and in the evenings, 7 am-9 pm.
Founded in 2012, Street Kitchen has two other London sites in Battersea and Devonshire Square. Duo Jankel and Tanaka are planning to expand their brand even further, with funding in place for three more sites next year, according to Big Hospitality.
