The Hart Brothers will open a fifth branch of their flagship Barrafina tapas bar next Saturday in Borough Yards, the extension of the Borough Market food hub developed under the redbrick Victorian railway arches.
The new Barrafina, which glories in the address of “2 Dirty Lane”, constitutes the final link in the Harts’ Borough Yards trio, sandwiched between a branch of Parrillan, the Hispanic grill concept they have brought from Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross, and Bar Daskal, a Spanish wine, sherry and vermut bar.
The three Hart brothers – Sam, Eddie and James – opened the first Barrafina in 2007 in a tiny site on Frith Street, Soho, launching a trend for no-bookings venues with diners seated on stools along a bar. The original branch moved to Dean Street, and has been followed by two more in Covent Garden as well as Coal Drops Yard.
Meanwhile, the brothers’ Mexican taqueria brand, El Pastor, made its debut in Borough Market and now has branches in Soho and Coal Drops Yard.
