Renowned sommelier Xavier Rousset and Anglo and Stem chef Mark Jarvis have joined forces and taken up the reins at Gunmakers, reopening the local favourite to the public.
The duo will open in November a forty-cover restaurant downstairs where Jarvis will serve British pub food, some way detached from the fine dining he was so successful with at Anglo. Rousset, who manages a 300-strong list at Blandford Comptoir, also hopes to have an impressive wine line-up here.
An announcement said the Gunmakers pub will serve classics such as beer battered fish and chips and a selection of Cornish pasties, soups and hearty sandwiches. There are vegan and vegetarian options.
Downstairs and from December 2019, the same menu will apply but spread over lunch and dinner. As well as the best Sunday roasts, diners can expect grilled sea bass and potato flan. There’ll be bedrooms upstairs.
