The brothers behind Blanchette in Soho have opened a new live-fire grill restaurant in Kingly Court called Goldies. Yannis and Max Alary say: “Combining flame with sustainable local produce, our menu will provide dramatic and smoky sensations, with twists on classic dishes and our twice-fried Goldies frites.”
While 10-year-old Blanchette – named after their mother – is very French in outlook and cuisine, Goldies veers towards the Middle East and North Africa for culinary inspiration, with dishes such as challah bread with hummus, labneh with grilled peach, and merguez Scotch egg with smoked harissa mayo.
From the grill, barbecued squid is served with za’atar, marinated baby chicken with smoked yoghurt, and beef sirloin with smoked onion mayo.
‘Frites & Dips’ is a major feature, with hand-cut frites cooked twice in a choice of beef dripping or vegetable oil and served with five different dips including ‘Brazil BBQ’, ‘Samurai’ and ‘Andalusia’.
