Peter Sanchez-Iglesias closes Casa ‘until further notice’

Casa restaurant in Bristol, successor to the famous Casamia from Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, has closed ‘until further notice’– without any explanation.

A notice posted on the restaurant’s website this week reads: “At this moment, we are closed for future bookings. If you’re looking to book a restaurant, please check out our sister restaurant, Paco Tapas.

“All vouchers for Casa will be honoured at Paco Tapas. If you have any concerns or queries, please contact us at info@casamiarestaurant.co.uk. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you soon!”

Casa opened November 2022 in the harbourside premises vacant since Casamia closed earlier that year. It was billed as a return to the Italian trattoria format of the original Casamia, which was founded in 1999 by Peter’s parents, Sue & Paco. This year’s Harden’s survey found muted support for Casa, to the effect that it was “Interesting… but not sure the new concept works”.

Guests who have contacted Casa this week using the email address provided have been told: “Thank you for contacting Casa. We would like to take a moment to thank all of our wonderful customers for their support. While Casa is closed until further notice, we would love to welcome you to our sister restaurant, Paco Tapas.”

Paco Tapas is next-door to Casa in the listed former Bristol General Hospital building. Peter also runs Decimo, a high-end Mexican restaurant on the top floor of the Standard Hotel, opposite St Pancras station in London.
