Rosa’s Thai is continuing its national expansion with aplomb as the brand sets itself up to open in Manchester.
The Thai chain will launch in Spinningfields in a spot vacated by the Handmade Burger Company, the Manchester Evening News first reported.
Rosa’s Thai, which started as a single restaurant in East London in 2008, now has 18 sites in London, Leeds, and Liverpool. Manchester, a 60-cover restaurant, will make 19, and many more are believed to be on the way. It does consistently credible “cheap and tasty” food and has managed to maintain such a sentiment despite becoming a burgeoning chain.
The Thai menu is still inspired – as it was over a decade ago – by co-founder Saiphin Moore’s childhood on her family’s farm in northern Thailand. She opened the group with husband Alex.
Saiphin said: “We’ve spent a long time trying to find the right site to open a Rosa’s Thai Cafe in Manchester and The Old Courthouse felt like the ideal location for us.
“We’re really looking forward to becoming part of the city’s vibrant food and drink scene, and have a lot of plans for this restaurant which will set it apart from our Rosa’s in London.
“We’ve got a busy few months ahead and are really excited about opening our doors next spring!”
The new opening forms part of a major expansion plan for the chain, which sold a a majority stake to American private equity company Tri Span last summer.
Saiphin and her husband Alex remain closely involved in the business.
