A new Mediterranean restaurant taking inspiration from both its European and North African shores launches next week in Marylebone.
Bellazul opens on Thursday 1 February in Blandford Street on the former site of Italian restaurant Il Baretto, with ex-Cecconi’s and 5 Hertford Street head chef Simone Serafini directing the kitchen.
Dishes range from lobster spaghetti to lamb tagine, and are backed up with a wine list focusing on France, Italy and Portugal. Light meals are also available in the upstairs bar, Azul, which serves an original range of cocktails including the signature Bellazul Martini with focaccia-infused gin, basil and tomato water, burnt garlic and homemade curacao syrup.
The interior is designed to reflect the Mediterranean, with plenty of rustic earth tones along with large arched windows which frame the entrance and flood the dining room with natural light.
Simone says: “Bellazul was born from a desire to create the perfect neighbourhood spot in Marylebone, whether that’s gathering with friends and colleagues after work or a lazy weekend meal with loved ones. We wanted to create somewhere that brings people together over delicious food and ensure every visit is memorable and unique!”
