During our usually damp summers we Brits have braved many adverse weather conditions in the hope of lighting the barbecue and enjoying a good burger. And it looks as though tomorrow’s National Burger Day (27 August) will be no different.

Events to mark this auspicious day include Mr Hyde’s CAR-B-Q at Battersea Powerstation – in a twist on the classic BBQ that may worry the ‘elf and safety brigade, burgers will be grilled on cabbies’ car engines. And 300 restaurants nationwide will offer 20 per cent off burger orders to celebrate the day, including Byron, Honest Burgers and Dirty Burger.
