The indefatigable Jason Atherton is to launch another restaurant in the City, with Temple and Sons opening next door to City Social next month.
It will be Atherton’s eighth London restaurant since his Mayfair debut Pollen Street Social in 2011, and follows Sosharu, which opened in March this year. He has another eight around the world, including the Pig and Palm which opened in July in his wife Irha’s home town of Cebu in the Philippines.
Temple and Sons will be more casual than City Social in Tower 42, which has been praised by the Harden’s Survey for its “stunning views” and “superb” food. There will be a grill restaurant plus a deli and small-plate bar which converts into a cocktail bar in the evening. The Social Company’s own bottled lager will make its first showing here.
Like City Social, Temple and Sons is a partnership between Atherton and Restaurant Associates. The name is a convoluted nod to the Victorian statesman Lord Palmerston, originally Henry John Temple; Tower 42 occupies the site of the former Palmerston House.
