The Sun Tavern in Bethnal Green has teamed up with Sub Cult to offer a menu of gourmet sub sandwiches. This marks an expansion from the guys behind Sub Cult who have gone from a stall at Soho’s Berwick Street Market to a residency at the Duke of Wellington in Dalston, and now to a second east London pub in the space of a year.
To soak up The Sun Tavern’s cocktails, sub sandwiches will be available Tuesday-Sunday with a variety of different fillings. On the menu: The Dub Sub (slow cooked pork shoulder, hot jerk BBQ sauce, plantain, crispy crackling, pickled pink onions and coriander; The Martin Subsese (coppa, salami & mortadella cured meats, buffalo mozzarella, kalamata tapenade, sun-blush tomatoes); The Sub-terranean (seared woodland mushroom, roasted garlic, stilton, creme fraiche and white truffle) and Sub-claws (lobster and crayfish, lemon mayo, pickled cucumber, radish and chive) – among others.
Sides include baked parmesan polenta chips with spiced ketchup; confit duck lolly pops with plum sauce; apple and celeriac remoulade with crispy shallots; roast carrot and beetroot with blue cheese dipping sauce; and Sub-Zero ice creams and sorbets for dessert.
