Florentine comfort food concept Dez Amore opens its first permanent restaurant next week, on a corner site in Chelsea with a retro-modern look inspired by Italy in the 1970s.
Launched by two friends from Florence, Leonardo Masi and Simone Parentini (pictured), Dez Amore lays claim to a ‘double soul’ that combines traditional Italian cooking with contemporary international elements – for which read classic home-made pasta alongside burgers given a ‘gourmet’ Tuscan treatment via add-ons including pecorino cheese and onions caramelised in Chianti.
The brand is already familiar to diners across the capital from its nine outlets at street-food markets, including all three Mercato Metropolitanos (Elephant & Castle, Mayfair and Wood Wharf), Camden Stables Market, Crate Walthamstow, Boxpark Wembley and a kiosk at Canary Wharf. A central kitchen in Deptford supplies all pasta, sauces and buns.
The new two-storey restaurant has an open kitchen and has been kitted out by Florentine design team Timothee Studio to evoke the atmosphere of a typical Italian nonna’s house from the 1970s, while the menu features new items ranging from antipasti and stuzzichini to pan-fried pizza and tiramisù.
Leonardo said: “Chelsea is such an established area in London and we are so pleased to be launching our flagship restaurant in this sought-after location.”
Dez Amore opens at 275 Fulham Road on Tuesday 2 July.
