The Belpassi Bros’ long-promised permanent restaurant (we first remember writing about the possibility back in 2014!) will open on Saturday 6 August. Livio and Lorenzo Belpassi, famed for their meatball truck (parked at Spitalfields Market) will be swapping the streets of Shoreditch for South London with a 40-cover restaurant and bar in Tooting.
To celebrate the launch the venue will be giving away 150 free meatball sandwiches a day on 6 & 27 August, 5-6 pm.
Following a culinary crusade across Northern & Central Italy in search of the perfect meatball recipe, Livio & Lorenzo conceived Belpassi Bros meatball company. A series of creative collaborations followed including a month-long House of Peroni pop-up, a partnership with The Doodle Bar, and a menu within Bites, Camera, Action Union Street Café. Last year saw the duo acquire a vintage 1967 Fiat van, now parked at Old Spitalfields Market.
The Tooting restaurant, opening June, will serve their classic beef and pork meatball, and homemade sauces, served in a sandwich or on a base of polenta or homemade pasta. Joining these will be a selection of cicchetti, salumi, an array of new balls and sandwiches, plus daily specials and desserts.
