David Muñoz, the flamboyant Spanish chef who won three Michelin stars in four years for his Madrid restaurant DiverXO, is to open his long-promised London offshoot, StreetXO, in Mayfair in November.
He aims to “shock, surprise and delight” diners through both the theatre and flavour of his Asian-inspired fusion dishes. StreetXO will be set up as a street market around an open kitchen.
Muñoz spent some of his formative years as a chef in London in his early 20s, when he worked at Nobu and Hakkasan among other places during a five-year stint. He returned to his native Spain to open DiverXO in 2007.
His London debut follows soon after the opening of Eneko at One Aldwych by another multi-starred Spanish chef of the same generation, Eneko Atxa of Azurmendi in Bilbao.
