A new restaurant and bar with one of the most spectacular vistas in London’s West End opens on Monday. The appropriately named Kitty Hawk perches on top of the Page 8 Hotel in St Martin’s Place, with a bird’s-eye view over Trafalgar Square and Nelson’s Column.
Kitty Hawk takes over a rooftop site with an outdoor terrace occupied for three years by Japanese restaurant Bisushima. It is part of the ETM group, which also operates bird-themed rooftop bars Aviary and Wagtail in the City, along with the Jugged Hare pub and Chiswell Street Dining Rooms.
The modern British menu offers oysters and seafood along with burgers, salt-marsh lamb and steaks, plus vegetarian options. There is an early-evening pre-theatre menu at £30 for 2 courses, and a ‘bottomless brunch’ served at weekends offering unlimited cocktails, food and wine at £55 for 90 minutes. A useful bar menu includes snacks up to a double cheeseburger with pickles and fries for £22.
Kitty Hawk is running an opening-month offer of 50% off food bills on tables booked in September.
