Rochelle Canteen at the ICA is to launch a series of ‘pie and a pint’ nights.
Founders Margot Henderson and Melanie Arnold will serve “weekly odes to the humble dish” on Sundays starting on February 17.
The pie will come with a pint of Peroni, Guinness, or house wine, and will cost just £10.
Dishes will range from pheasant, prune and trotter, in typical Henderson style, to more familiar varieties such as chicken, leek and wild mushroom. All fillings will sit beneath a classic suet puff pastry lid.
It is all very much in keeping with Rochelle Canteen’s “simple, hearty, but utterly delicious English food” described by reporters.
Henderson said: “”A good pie and a pint has been the cornerstone of many a Henderson weekend and is really what Sundays are all about – they’re comforting, they’re nostalgic, they bring good friends together and most often a result of slow gentle cooking which is what we do best here at Rochelle”.
